Grades and Transcripts

For information on requesting a transcript from SFS, Boston University, or Northeastern University, please click here.

Affiliate Institutions, Direct Credit

If you are a student from an Affiliate Institution that provides direct credit for The School for Field Studies (SFS) programs, you will not have been registered for credit through Boston University, so your transcript requests should always be made directly through SFS. Your official grade report will be mailed to your school within six weeks of the completion of the spring session and a student copy will also be mailed to your permanent address at that time.

Non-Affiliate Institution or an Affiliate Institution, No Direct Credit

If you are a student at a Non-Affiliate Institution or an Affiliate Institution that does not provide direct credit, you will have been registered for credits at Boston University. Your grades will be reviewed by the SFS Dean after the end of the spring session and then sent to Boston University. At that point, it generally takes Boston University approximately eight weeks to process the grades into transcripts. SFS will receive back from Boston University one official transcript and one unofficial transcript for each student.

Upon applying to SFS, you were asked on your Participation Approval Form to provide an address at your home school* where your official transcript should be mailed. This is the address where your official transcript will be sent. If no address was provided, your official copy will be mailed directly to you at your permanent address. Please do not open the sealed transcript envelope as you will need to deliver it intact to the appropriate office at your home school. An unofficial transcript for your own records will also be mailed to you at your permanent address.

*If your home school requires that the official transcript be sent directly to them and you did not provide an address on your Participation Approval Form, please send a request via email to Ellen Reid at ereid@fieldstudies.org. Your request should include your name, date of birth, the SFS program you attended, and the name and address of the person at your school who should receive your transcript.
