INTERN PROFILE
Charlie recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Biology and minors in both Marine Science and Environmental Studies. His love for the oceans and marine life began before he can remember with yearly trips to the North Carolina coast, but grew exponentially when he started diving in 2006. After being inspired by a great marine science professor at UNC, Charlie has spent his summers working and diving for the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences doing benthic coastal ecology research focusing on oyster populations, a valuable NC resource. During the academic year he also worked as a laboratory technician doing phylogenetic research on Archaeal communities found at hydrothermal sites in both the Guaymas Basin and the Gulf of Mexico. Charlie is thrilled to join the SFS team on South Caicos as a dive master, and looks forward meeting students that share an interest in marine resource management.
