FACULTY PROFILE

I am a Bhutanese born and raised in Bhutan, educated in several countries including the USA, Norway, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Philippines and Bhutan. I have worked in Bhutan and USA on international education, energy projects, environmental issues and water resources studies projects.

 

RESEARCH INTERESTS

My interest is to work on Watershed Management, Water resources and Energy research in Bhutan in the context of Climate Change and Sustainable Development.

Past Projects

• U.S. EPA’s People, Prosperity and Planet (P3) 2010 funded Smart-Grid GridShare Project in Bhutan to pilot reduction of brownouts in isolated mini-grids in developing countries (US$ 75K)
• Building Energy Analysis for Humboldt State University, CA, USA
• Community based 100kW Sengor Micro Hydropower Demonstration Project funded by UNDP-GEF and implemented by Department of Energy, Bhutan.


GRANTS AND AWARDS

• US EPA P3 grant for Phase I in 2009 (US$ 10,000) and Phase II in 2010 (US$ 75,000) as a member of the student team working on a Smart-Grid Project.
• Government of Bhutan Scholarship to study in the USA, 2009&2010 (~US$ 50,000).
• Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) scholarship to study at the University of Oslo, Norway, 2008.
• Royal Thai Government fellowship, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand 2006.
• Academic Merit Scholarship, MNNIT, Allahabad, UP, India (2001-2002 and 2002-2003).
• GOI Scholarship by RCSC, Bhutan in 2000 to study engineering in India for 4 years.
