STAFF PROFILE
As an avid international traveler and educator, Kate has worked with students from elementary school to college for the past several years, passionately facilitating and engaging in various experiential education opportunities. In graduate school at Northeastern University, Kate served as a Residence Hall Director for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and as a Program Assistant for a study abroad course in Ghana.
After obtaining a Master’s degree in Applied Educational Psychology and Counseling with a concentration in College Student Development, Kate worked as a Living Learning Coordinator for Semester at Sea, a “floating university” study abroad program focused on cross-cultural explorations in 13 countries. She planned programs/events as well as led in-country excursions and service projects for college students aboard this 800-person passenger ship. These experiences led Kate to truly value the importance of building community and civic engagement. As a summer travel leader with Windsor Mountain International, Kate has led several community-service based student travel and leadership programs in New Hampshire, Hawaii and the Caribbean islands. Recently, she taught Outdoor Education for the Houston Independent School District and has previously taught English in Thailand and Nicaragua.
Committed to global awareness and service learning, Kate is thrilled to be working with Turks and Caicos field staff and SFS students to foster cross-cultural understanding, connect meaningfully with the local community, and further develop sustainability initiatives.
