INTERN PROFILE

Born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago, Nick made his way from the Midwest, to Florida, to Guilford College in North Carolina. He graduated as a double major in Biology and Environmental Studies in May 2011. The focus of his work was field work centered on ornithology, herpetology, and ecology, culminated in an honor's thesis about the habitat feature preferences of salamanders in human-impacted areas.

Throughout his college career, Nick participated in studies in Nicaragua and as an SFS student in New Zealand and Australia (Summer 2010). These travels, and an internship with a farmland/wilderness conservation agency in rural North Carolina, have fostered an interest in wildlife response and status in managed and agricultural habitats.

Apart from working toward potential graduate degrees, Nick was a rugby player in school and enjoys the opportunity for swimming, fishing or any activity that keeps him outdoors.
