Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide support in the areas of program delivery, student group dynamics, logistics, program safety, risk management, academic assistance, research, and site maintenance.
Location: SFS Center for Coastal Studies - Puerto San Carlos, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Reports to: Center Director. Day to day supervision may be delegated to Student Affairs Manager, Faculty, or Site Manager as appropriate. Duration: Internships are one year in duration. Qualifications: BA/BS in environmental, educational, or development related field Conversational Spanish Current First Aid and CPR certifications preferred but not required Clean driving record and ability to operate a standard transmission vehicleJob Description: Student Group Dynamics - Assist Student Affairs Manager in coordinating student group and transportation of group on field trips, field exercises, and camping trips
- Participate in planning activities prior to the program start and program debrief following students' departure
- Participate in the orientation and re-entry components of the program presented to students
- Organize students to perform their required tasks in support of the residential aspects of program (food preparation, recycling efforts, center clean-ups)
- Participate in and lead community service projects, recreational activities, and other program activities as requested
Academic: - Assist faculty with academic and research activities
- Organize and prepare support materials for faculty
- Provide support in off-site field exercises
Administrative/Logistical: - On a rotating basis, act as "staff of the day"
- Assist with administrative or logistical tasks such as town errands, record keeping, and routine maintenance of site and equipment as requested
- Assist in organizing the library, teaching aids, research materials and projects
Safety: - Adhere to, actively model, and enforce all SFS and Center policies, procedures, and rules
- Maintain the First Aid equipment and help create and document safety procedures
