Welcome to The School for Field Studies 25th Anniversary web pages! We created this special section of our website to commemorate the founding of SFS on October 23, 1980. Here you will find a brief history of SFS and our current centers; founding dates of all of the SFS Centers - past and present; a list (hopefully complete!) of all the early SFS satellite courses; and results of our 25th Anniversary fundraising efforts.

Help us reach our goal of raising $185,000 in 2005-2006!
We offer our donors a number of ways to make a gift. You may make a one-time gift or you may choose to join the SFS Sustainers Society, our monthly giving program. Many alumni are interested in supporting the Center where they studied; for that reason you may designate your gift to any SFS Center. Center restricted donations are used to support high priority needs in the field.
As an environmental organization we encourage you to donate on-line if at all possible. By doing so, you will help save resources like paper and fuel, and help us realize administrative efficiencies at SFS HQ that will enable us to devote more energy and money to supporting field activities for the students and communities we serve. "Besides collecting data we also had the opportunity to analyze and manipulate this data and to truly understand the meaning of our efforts in the field. We were required to present our conculsions to our group and answer any questions they had. This meant we had to logistically put together ideas we gathered in the field from lectures and background readings. To be able to come up with rational conclusions was quite challenging and even fun."
