"I had begun to feel maybe I had chosen the wrong field. I wasn't sure how I could survive all the courses necessary to get a Marine Science degree. The SFS Doplhin Biology and Behavior course has given me new reinforcement to go forward. Now when I get down in the dumps from too much school work, I think back on my SFS course and get a new perspective on everything."
Lisa Steiner
Biology and Behavior of Bottlenose Dolphins, Summer 1986
"I saw how beautiful and fragile the Alaskan wilderness is and how people are constantly stressing it, wanting to bring civilization and exploit the resources that are there now. I saw how important it is to preserve, in its most pristine state, one of the last pure wilderness areas in the world."
Jeanne Guild
Ecology of Bald Eagles, Summer 1985
"Now that I have returned to my home, to Iowa, I find that it is only now that I realize what the summer of 1993 really meant to me. For many Iowans, this time will be remembered for the disastrous floods, but I was able to escape, if only for a short period of time. I have found that I now harbor memories not only of the powerful floodwater, but of a new life, new friends, and a new perspective. The course I took through The School for Field Studies, to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, this past summer taught me a special lesson: I learned how to cope with life in a new way."
