After he completed his Master's degree he returned to Costa Rica where he worked as the head of the research program at Monteverde Conservation League for seven years. During that period he coordinated sustainable development projects, directed research on habitat rehabilitation and reforestation with native species, and participated in the design of biological corridors and protected areas management. He was involved in the design of the Environmental Services Payments by a hydroelectrical plant to the private reserve Children's Eternal Rainforest. In 2001, Edgardo obtained a Ph.D. grant from the University of Lausanne to conduct research on the effect of habitat fragmentation on forest-dependent birds and landscape ecology in the Monteverde area. Before starting his position at The School for Field Studies in January 2006, he co-coordinated and participated in tropical ecology courses given by the Organization for Tropical Studies. Edgardo's interests include landscape ecology, conservation biology, behavioral ecology, and evolution. Previous Page Back to Costa Rica Field Staff Next Page | |
