Kiringe is a Wildlife ecologist with a strong background in conservation biology. His Bachelors and Masters Degrees are in Botany /Zoology and Conservation Biology respective, which he earned at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Kiringe's dissertation research work was conducted in Hell's Gate National Park (Kenya) and adjoining private ranches, where he looked at population dynamics and habitat preferences of large mammalian herbivores. He also examined range primary productivity and the impact of livestock and wildlife on range condition. While a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (1994-August 2002) he got involved in joint research activities on wildlife in some renowned conservation areas of Kenya. Since joining SFS in September 2000 his research work has mostly focused on the value and conservation status of ethno-medicinal and other valuable tree and shrub species in a communally owned Maasai Group Ranch situated in the larger Amboseli Ecosystem. Prior to joining SFS, he lectured for six years in the Department of Zoology, University of Nairobi. Kiringe is in-charge of the Wildlife Ecology Course at the SFS-Center for Wildlife Management, Kenya under which he conducts research and teaches a variety of wildlife related topics.
