| (For semester financial aid, return to the main financial aid page.) To apply for SFS financial aid for summer sessions, please follow these steps: Step 1. Download the Summer SFS Financial Aid application Step 2. Complete the Summer SFS Financial Aid application as follows: Page 1 of the application: -Please be honest and realistic in your request for aid amounts. Keep in mind that SFS has limited funds and is unable to fully fund students. These funds are need-based and awarded on a first come, first served basis. -All SFS scholarships require that students also take on the responsibility of a Merck Family Zero Interest Loan (or the low interest loan, available for semester students). Therefore, when considering your request for aid, include loan amounts. -If you plan to use your home school financial aid, you must provide documentation regarding funding sources and amounts. If possible, please obtain information as to when these funds would be released (semester students only). Failure to provide documentation will significantly prolong processing time. Page 2 of the application: -Be sure to include all dependent children, starting with yourself, enrolled in school. Page 3 of the application: -Information regarding your proposed Funding Sources is very important. Feel free to comment on whether each is definite or simply hopeful. -Income statement: you must provide this information as well as a copy of the most recent Federal Income Tax Return (s). If you are an international student, please provide the equivalent forms and use this page to translate the amounts into US Dollars. Page 4 of the application: -The Personal Statement is MANDATORY. Receiving aid from SFS is neither guaranteed nor automatic. You are applying for need-based aid and are required to submit a statement to the Financial Aid Committee in order to be considered for SFS aid. SFS reserves the right to award aid as the Financial Aid Committee determines. This is your opportunity to elaborate on your situation and discuss any unusual circumstances that may impact your need for assistance.
Step 3. Sign the form and read the Policy information at the bottom of the page. It is important that you follow the timelines and policies. Should you decline your award, there are many other students waiting for aid. Please be considerate. |
