Program Prerequisites
Health and Safety SFS has an extensive safety program overseen by our in-house safety director. You'll find information on our safety support systems, our safety philosophy, risk management, and medical approval process.
Course Syllabi Course syllabi for all five programs are posted prior to the start of the semester and summer programs to help students see the specific content of each course to help them select the right program and fulfill academic requirements at their home institutions. Archives of past syllabi are also available.
Program Manuals These provide students, faculty, and advisors with a detailed description of components of our programs. Each handbook addresses important information about each of our five centers including the environmental issues, research direction, and course descriptions as well as academic affairs, which includes grading, academic credit, credit transfer, and more.
Student Field Prep Guides The field prep guides are a resource used for specific information regarding logistics and policies of studying abroad with SFS. These documents help students determine what to pack, how much money to bring, their rights and responsibilities, SFS program policies, health and safety, travel arrangements, communication, weather, and more. Become an SFS Affiliate Partner Affiliate school students receive admission and financial preference with us. Additionally, we hold affiliate meetings and site visits at our field stations to which you or a representative from your institution would be invited to attend. SFS Five Year Research Plans SFS centers have developed five-year research plans to help identify, address, and resolve critical local environmental problems. These plans provide information to assist local, regional, and national agencies in resource management decision-making. Plans also include a timeline of specific Directed Research projects and supporting academic activities, which form the basis for the academic and community/extension program content. SFS Accreditation SFS' accredititing institution, credits received upon completion of a program, and transfer and acceptance of credits.
Alumni Services (transcripts) SFS has over 13,000 alumni with whom we are in regular contact long after they return home. Our alumni relations coordinator keeps alumni updated on research progress, events, jobs, profiles alumni who are currently pursuing careers in the environment, and periodically organizes alumni trips back to the field stations. Information on requesting a transcript can also be found in this section.
SFS 101 PowerPoint Presentation We put together this presentation for faculty and advisors who would like to tell their students more about us with a visual aid. This presentation includes all of the basic information that a student interested in studying abroad would need to know to make an educated decision about pursuing a summer or semester abroad with SFS.
