 | The Garden Club of America Summer Scholarships for Environmental Studies The mission of GCA is, in part, to protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and actions in the field of conservation and civic improvement. GCA now offers three scholarships to encourage studies and careers in the environmental field. The scholarships are in the amount of $1,500 each and applications are due February 10, 2006. To apply go to: http://www.gcamerica.org/scholarships.php3The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Awards of up to $5,000 are made for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000. *The Gilman Scholarship Program will be piloting a special Summer 2010 award cycle for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field disciplines. http://www.iie.org/programs/gilman/index.html The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education. In 2006, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships of up to $5,000 and 50 honorable mentions of $350 on the basis of merit to sophomore and junior-level college students who: - Have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; OR
- Have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy or health care, and are Native American or Alaska Native.

This annual national award recognizes six young people for their outstanding activism and achievements in the fields of environmental and social justice advocacy. Each winner is awarded $3,000 in cash and flown out for the award night and Yosemite camping trip.
