Risk Management for Study Abroad Administrators
This workshop will approach risk management from an administrative perspective. We will survey the field and provide tools to make navigating risk smarter, faster and cheaper. Along with topical presentations on risk management issues we will also look at issues of organizational alignment between university/college study abroad programs and their larger organizations as well as alignment between study abroad administration and faculty leaders/field directors.
Curriculum to include:
- Navigating Risk in Education Abroad
- Managing Stakeholder Expectations of Administrators
- Making Meetings Work
- The Legal Landscape/Insurance
- Information Acquisition, Assessment and Communication
- Emergency Response (admin)
- Issues
- Knowing what happens in the field
- Managing faculty leader/field director compliance with policies
- Working effectively with faculty leaders/field directors
Program to include formal presentations, case studies, scenarios and discussion. All participants will receive a Risk Management Resource Handbook, including Developing Risk Management Plans.
