SFS Appoints New President
Salem, Massachusetts – July 21, 2008 –The Board of The School for Field Studies is very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Bonnie R. Clendenning as President of SFS, effective August 11, 2008.
Clendenning comes to SFS with a lengthy and distinguished record of leadership in the non-profit sector, most recently as Executive Director of the Archaeological Institute of America. She has also held senior positions at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, The Education Alliance, and professional schools at Boston University and Tufts University.
A graduate of Smith College, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the New England School of Law, Clendenning is an experienced educational administrator. Her areas of specialization include strategic planning, organizational advancement, fiscal management, executive recruitment and board development. While at Radcliffe College (now the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study), she successfully completed a $100M fundraising campaign. She is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a board member of The New Repertory Theatre, the Fuller Craft Museum and the Career Collaborative.
Clendenning is eager to take the helm at SFS and make her introductions to the study abroad and environmental communities. “Having benefited from my own studies and work outside the United States in several capacities, primarily on behalf of cultural organizations, I share the School's enthusiasm for these seminal learning experiences. I am honored to be joining an organization working directly and collaboratively on important global issues and hope we can increase opportunities for program participation and for a wider dissemination of study results.”
