Risk Management Intensive for Field Directors (1 week)

This training is designed for education abroad professionals who are either managing a program or leading a trip overseas. Two days will be dedicated to general risk management of educational programs in an international setting. One day will be dedicated to working with college students and behavior management. The last 4 days will be spent taking a Wilderness Medical Associates' Wilderness Advanced First Aid course.

Curriculum to include:

  • What We Know, What We Think We Know: International Risk Management in Education Abroad
  • Safety and Security
  • Legal/Insurance Issues
  • Creating Emergency Response Plans
  • Student Facilitation
  • Student Behavior Management
  • Student Medical and Psychological Screening
  • Medical Strategy in Low/Middle Income and Tropical Countries
  • Emergency Medical Response in a Remote Setting
  • Selected Topics in Travel and Tropical Medicine

Successful participants will be awarded a certificate for Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Basic Life Support (including CPR) and Allergy/Anaphylaxis Workshop from Wilderness Medical Associates (www.wildmed.com).
